<p>The ignition spark advance device replaces the usual weights, levers and springs that are normally used in a car engine distributor. It consists of a parallel sides metal arm (1) which has a guide pin (2) fitted into it. The arm revolves around the bearing (3). As the speed of the engine increases the centrifugal force on the arm causes the guide pin (2) to move outwards and alter the position of the electrical ignition points and therefore advances the ignition timing of the engine.</p> |
