PURPOSE:To measure a tension of a ring by connecting a pressing and pressure receiving means to one end part and the other end part of an annular jig having a gap respectively, measuring expanding and contracting states of a diameter of the jig through the annular jig, and measuring similarly the exapnding and contracting states of the diameter with fitting a piston ring to be measured. CONSTITUTION:A reference disc 3 is placed along an inner circumference of the jig 2 and the gap is decreased until the jig 2 and the disc 3 are fitted tightly. A driving source 5 is stopped in this state, a micrometer head 7 is controlled to move a touch switch 18 until it contacts with a dock 16. The positions of the prescribed expansion and contraction states of the jig 2 are decided by this operation. Then the disc 3 is detached and the piston ring to be tested is placed along the inner circumference of the jig 2, and a reciprocative driving source 5 is drived again to repeat the similar operation. The tension portion of the jig 2 is eliminated from the detected value, and is sent to a display memter 8 as a signal 17, and the value sent by the signal 17 and varying from moment to moment is displayed continually on the meter 8. This displayed value is the tension of the piston ring of prescribed circumference length reference in real circle state, and the tension basing on the circumference length as the reference can be measured. |
