This instrument intended to facilitate the use of dental floss in order to remove plaque from teeth, has a body which is curved or inclined from a part 1 forming a handle towards a free end, at which is provided at least one device for holding 4-4 and a housing 7 for receiving and holding, for example by jamming, one end of a piece of dental floss 9. The other end is wound around the index finger of that hand which is not holding the instrument, and the piece between the two is then tensioned by moving the finger. The curved and hooked configuration of the instrument facilitates the placing of one end of the floss anywhere in the mouth. <IMAGE>
