In a push-button switch having a piezo-electric switch element (6, 7), the latter is constructed to be oblong and in the shape of a platelet. When the operating device (3) is pressed, it is bent through suddenly so that high voltage surges occur which are suitable for driving electronic switching elements. The voltage surges are so high that an amplifier circuit can be dispensed with. <IMAGE>
