When media, such as, for example, foamed liquors, are being applied onto material webs of relatively large width, a uniform distribution of the medium to be applied is necessary. The applicator apparatus according to the invention is characterised by nozzles which are designed as distributor heads for the application of the medium. The nozzles are connected conductively to the foam feed pipes located inside or outside the applicator apparatus. The applicator apparatus is equipped with a foam-receiving space, into which the nozzles open. A displacement body for the medium to be applied is arranged centrally in the applicator apparatus, with the result that throughflow channels for the medium to be applied are formed between the outer wall of the displacement body and the inner wall surface of the applicator apparatus. The nozzles can be designed as round-head nozzles or as flat-jet nozzles. If flat-jet nozzles are used, it is expedient, for the uniform distribution of the medium to be applied, that the outlet orifices lie alternately in opposite directions. <IMAGE>
