PURPOSE:To make mass production of liquid crystal elements in a multi-production process with good efficiency, by cutting substrates made of plastic films provided with many liquid crystal element groups by means of laser light. CONSTITUTION:Plural sets of segment electrodes 3 and common electrodes 4 which are located opposite to each other are formed on the respective opposed surfaces of substrates 1, 2 consisting of light transmittable plastic films and are subjected to an orientation treatment. Sealants 5 are printed in a frame shape on the peripheral parts of the formed electrodes 3, 4, and the substrates 1, 2 are adhered to each other to form many cases 6 continuously between the opposed surfaces of the substrates 1, 2. CO2 laser light is irradiated in an arrow A direction on the outside circumferential parts of the respective adjacent cases to cut said parts thermally by fusion and to disconnect the respective blocks thereby dividing the substrates to individual cases (if two pieces of the substrates 1, 2 are simultaneously cut, the fusion-cut parts A thereof are thermally fused together). A liquid crystal is injected into each case 6 and the case is sealed, whereby the display device is obtd. |
