An upwards directed borehole is made, using a rotary drilling machine swivelling about a horizontal axis. The widening of the gallery into a starting chamber is effected by the drilling machine used for cutting the borehole, which is swivelled across the axis of rotation of the drilling tool. The tool cutting depth is set by its resultant adjustment along the axis of rotation. The drilling head pref. consists of a tool (30) fitted with cutting elements on its periphery, while the hoisting mechanism (18) is a device for continuously swivelling the drilling machine about the horizontal axis (17).
