By means of the invention, a liquid chromatograph is described which permits the individual fractions of a sample to be led at a uniform rate past a detector for detection by measurement independently of pressure conditions in the separating column. To this end, on the detector side (low-pressure side) of the separating column is arranged a metering element which allows the eluate coming out of the separating column to leave in a metered fashion. Only then is it possible to lead the eluate past the detector at a uniform rate, so that exact results of measurement are obtained.
