The device consists of an entirely closed structure (1) mounted on rails (2) resting on the ground, subdivided into an assembly of individual cells (3) by means of vertical walls (4), and rollers (5) for supporting and guiding articles to be stored extending transversely in the horizontal plane of separation between cells (3), each cell (3) being closed at its front part by a door (6) which can be locked by means of a lock (7), and each cell (3) is provided over a part of its length, near to its door (6), with a deflecting element (8) for receiving and discharging water and dirt adhering to the articles, such as sand or the like. <IMAGE>
