PURPOSE:To provide a stripping agent for plating which enables the selective stripping of the plating film in required places and the easy removal and handling after stripping, by compounding gypsum, a binder and a hardening retarder with an org. acid which can dissolve the plating film, and mixing the same into a paste form. CONSTITUTION:An inorg. acid such as a dilute sulfuric acid which can chemically dissolve a plating film, and has less influence on a material to be used as a substrate, gypsum such as hemihydrate gypsum or anhydrous gypsum, a binder such as PVA or vinyl acetate and, if necessary, a connecting member such as fibers, and a hardening retarder such as oxalic acid are mixed to a paste form, and the mixture is coated on the part to be stripped of the plating film. The half-hardened or hardened block-like stripping agent is removed after a specified time. The stripping agent for plating formed in the above-mentioned way is in the paste form and permits coating only on the required part without sagging. Since the agent hardens after the stripping, the removal and handling thereof are extremely easy. |
