PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately print desired characters at a high speed by such an arrangement wherein the phase of a print timing is properly deviated from each other every time a head is spaced. CONSTITUTION:A rotary drum 3 has, on its outer circumference, plural projections 28 extending in its axial direction and a print head 5 which is spaced in front of the drum 3 in the direction perpendicular to the direction of feeding of a recording medium 43 has a print hammer 29 which is faced intersectionally to the projections 28, and the hammer 29 is selectively driven and dots are formed by the impact of the projections 28 and the hammer 29. In this case, the printing of a line is performed by N times of spacing of the head 5, and the hammer 29 is driven by a print timing signal of which phase is relatively de iated by a 1/N cycle for every spacing, and the recording medium 43 is caused to become stationary while N times of head spacing are performed and the gap between dots formed by the first head spacing is filled with dots formed by the headspacing to be made on and after the second time. |
