<p>Cleaned machinery swarf is compacted to at least 50% density, sealed in a evacuated container and fully densified by hot isostatic pressing at a temperature chosen to be sufficient to allow full densification of the metal with minimised grain growth. The use of combinations of swarf materials which have been worked to different extents and the addition of powdered metals of the same or different materials make it possible to control, and even improve, the metallurgical properties of the material.</p> |
