PURPOSE:To prevent short-circuiting of discharge air and intake air in a wall- hanging type indoor unit of an air conditioner, by forming an air intake opening respectively in the top face and one side face of a unit panel, and drawing air into the indoor unit from these intake openings by means of individual fans. CONSTITUTION:An indoor unit of this invention is designed such that air in a room to be air-conditioned is drawn from both of an intake opening 11 formed in the top face of the indoor unit and an intake opening 14 formed in one side face of the indoor unit, then passed through a heat exchanger 17 by means of a fan unit 18, and finally discharged into the room from a discharge opening 13. Here, air drawn from the top intake opening 11 is passed through the heat exchanger 17 by means of a cross-flow fan 20 of the fan unit 18 while air drawn from the side intake opening 14 is passed through the heat exchanger 17 by means of a Sirocco fan 21 of the fan unit 18. Thus, since short-circuiting of air flow between the intake openings and the discharge opening is not caused, it is enabled to exert the required space heating and cooling capacity of an air conditioner. |
