PURPOSE:To estimate easily depth without interference of measurement by scaring coke by segmenting the visual field of observation for a raceway to a peripheral part and a central part, and determining the ratio in the grain sizes of coke in the respective regions. CONSTITUTION:The coke grains in a raceway are continuously photographed as static image planes at proper intervals with a video camera 3 with an ultrahigh speed shutter, and after the picture images thereof are displayed on an ITV 5, the images are inputted to a processor 6. Here the images are segmented to a peripheral part and a central part, and grain sizes are calculated in the respective regions. The depth is then calculated by the equation [alpha: the grain sizes of coke, F0: the focal length of an objective lens, beta: the magnification on a screen (monitor, alphaj, alphai: the grain sizes of the particles in the central region and peripheral region at the distances l, li from the respectivel lenses]. |
