PURPOSE:To simplify the structure by stopping the inner rope at one end of a rack movable through rotation of a steering wheel then leading out through a groove in the rack and an inclined hole in the center of the rack casing to the side of the steering means. CONSTITUTION:Upon rotation of a steering wheel shaft 3 through a steering wheel 16, the rack 2 will slide in the rack casing 1 through a pinion 4 and the inner rope 6 of a control cable having one fixed end is pushed or pulled through an inclined hole 11 to the steering unit side thus to operate the steering means. Since it is led out from the center of the rack mechanism, the rack mechanism can be shortened and guided in the groove 7 formed in the rack 2 thereby one end can be stopped directly to the rack 2 to simplify the structure, while since the cable can be wired with large curvature the inner rope can slide smoothly in the outer casing. |
