PURPOSE:To perform exactly a stabilized separation of the sheets of paper, by making the largest part of corona discharge current of plural pawls for preventing paper rushing, which is fitted between both side walls of an electrostatic charger case, narrower than the other. CONSTITUTION:A fixed member of an electrostatic charging wire 14 is disposed at both end parts of a metallic electrostatic charger case 12 having a U-shaped section, and plural pawls 15 made of an insulating member for preventing paper rushing are provided at both side walls. The parts (a) located right above the center part of the pawls 15 i.e. the wire 14, are narrower than the other, and corona discharge current to a photoreceptor is arranged so that the largest position of said current coincides with the part where the pawls are narrowed. Therefore, the corona electric current to the photoreceptor is increased by 5- 20muA. By this way, the stabilized separation of the sheets of paper is performed. |
