PURPOSE:To facilitate inward depression when tensile force operates and to secure tension release by twisting element wires which each have a gel material around an optical fiber and also have a coating around a center wire. CONSTITUTION:An optical cable unit uses unit element wires 10 which each have the gel material layer 8 around the optical fiber core 1 and also have the coating 9 around it, and the center wire 6 formed by providing a soft high-polymer material layer 5 of soft silicone rubber, etc., around a tension member 4 such as a stainless steel wire. Plural element wires 10 are twisted around this center wire 6 and twisted grooves at the circumference are packed with a soft high- polymer material 7 such as soft silicone rubber. This soft high-polymer material 7 have about 0.01kg/mm.<2> Young's modulus. The core wire 1 is formed by providing a primary coating, a buffer, and a secondary coating layer around the optical fiber. As the gel material, a silicone gel is used suitably. |
