PURPOSE:In precipitating liberated atomic carbon, to prepare a large amount of diamond easily, by making a paraffinic hydrocarbon and hyrogen molecule exist in a gaseous state. CONSTITUTION:Liberated atomic carbon evolved by a well-known method such as discharge of carbon electrode is sent directly or by a carrier gas to a precipitating part. The precipitating part is previously packed with one or more of a paraffinic hydrocarbon atom and hydrogen molecule having a catalytic effect as a medium in a gaseous state. In the operation, the temperature of the precipitating part can be freely controlled independently of the evolving part of the atomic carbon, and carbon atom is agglomerated at the precipitating part, to give diamond. Consequently, diamond can be prepared under the temperature and pressure conditions of quasi-stable range of diamond. Seed crystal is not necessarily required by this method, as it is required by a conventional method, and a large amount of diamond is prepared easily. |
