<p>This cylindrical connector assembly has a multi-pin insert. The pins make contact with a mating insert in a socket. The outer insulating cover of the cable is stripped back, and a sleeve with a tapered end is pushed up between the sleeve and the cores. The cores are then connected to the insert, and a middle tube is pushed down the cable until stopped by the flanged end of the sleeve. The insert, middle tube, sleeve and cable are then inserted into an outer metal sleeve and the insert is clipped into place by a sprung ring which fits into grooves in a metal coupling ring on the outer sleeve. The upper end of the assembly is locked into place by a collar, which threads into the middle tube. Water is excluded from the connector by a compressed sealing ring at the bottom, and an 'O' ring at the top.</p> |
