<p>Fig. 3 shows a microwave hearth with a microwave generator arrangement and a grid resistor (12), the microwave generator arrangement being arranged in the upper region of the refining space wall, and having a bridge-shaped, internally hollow waveguide (2) with two outputs (5 and 6) which open into the refining space in the lateral regions of its roof. The grid resistor (12) is likewise arranged in the region of the refining space wall, its outer ends being connected together and to the hearth back wall by a metal strip (13).
