<p>Finely divided medicaments for inhalation comprise a therapeutically effective amt. of discrete particles capable of penetrating deeply into the lungs, characterised in that (a) a mass of the particles, which is neither agglomerated nor mixed with a coarse excipient, is sufficiently mobile to be introduced into capsules using an automatic filling machine and to exit from an open capsule in an inhalation device, or (b) a substantial proportion of the particles have a spherical, oblate spherical or annular donut shape, or (c) the ratio of permeametric to BET specific surface is 0.5-1.0. Also claimed is a medicament comprising Na cromoglycate (I) in which more than 90% of the medicament particles have a dia. of less than 60 microns and the medicament has an uncompacted bulk density of 0.3 or 0.4-0.75 g/cc. More specifically, the particles are produced by spray drying.</p> |
