A process for the preparation of a PVA powder which is substantially free from fine powder, which comprises placing the PVA in contact with around 0.5 to 4.0% of polyglycol, preferably around 0.5 to 2.0% of polyglycol, calculated in relation to the weight of PVA, and the product obtained by means of this process.
