PURPOSE:To control the ignition timing of all cylinders at an optimum condition by setting a knocking detection level for each cylinder and controlling the ignition timing for each cylinder in response to detected knocking signals. CONSTITUTION:A knocking sensor 7 converts engine vibrations into electric signals, and the signals of the sensor 7 are processed by a portion comprised of the band pass filter BPF of a module 12, a comparator COM, and a reference signal generator VREF, then the result computed and processed by MPU is applied to an ignition device 5 through a drive circuit PW. The lag angle quantity of the ignition timing when knocking occurs is common to all cylinders, but the judging condition for judging a knocking state differs for each cylinder. That is, how many knocking signals are to be detected before being judged as knocking is different for each cylinder. Thereby, the ignition timing for all cylinders can be controlled at an optimum condition. |
