PURPOSE:To obtain a means for promoting a grinding action and enabling a precision grinding, by a method wherein a grinding fluid can be securely supplied to an optimum position in an optimum condition in accordance with the shape of a groove to be ground and without any effect on the strength of a grinding wheel. CONSTITUTION:The grinding wheel 1 provided with a hole 2 for engaging with a grinding wheel flange at the center thereof and fitted with a bush is provided with a plurality of radially directed holes 3, 4 which have a depth of several times of that of the groove to be ground and are located substantially at regular intervals in two rows at a central part 1a of the width of the outside periphery of the grinding wheel 1, the spacing between the two rows being approximately equal to the width of the groove to be ground. The grinding wheel is fitted to a grinder, and is shaped by a rotary dresser (for shaping into a groove shape) to attain a convexed shape having a width approximately equal to that of the groove to be ground and a length larger than the depth of the groove, whereby the holes 3, 4 are dressed to parts in proximity to the centers thereof and are exposed as radial grooves on both grinding surfaces of the grinding wheel. Accordingly, a means for enabling precision grinding can be obtained. |
