<p>PURPOSE:To enhance the capacity of treating apparatus, while selectively removing inactive SS in activated sludge, by capturing bulky inactive suspended matter in the liquid mixture of activated sluge, and treating activated sludge- contg. liquid in a separating step using a porous water-permeable body. CONSTITUTION:Waste water 1 together with returned sludge 3 which has been filtered by a porous water-permeable body 2 comprising a screen of a mesh below 1mm., pref. below 0.7mm., is let flow into an aeration tank 4 and aerated therein. The waste water purified by removing pollutants from it is let flow into the step 5 of solid-liquid separation. Separated water 6 is drained or subjected to further advanced treatment, while returned sludge is sent to the porous water- permeable body 2 to perform the filtration. The porous water-permeable body 2 is preferably an inclined plate or rotary drum type using wedge wire, but it may be one having a checkered or reticular structure or using a punching metal.</p> |
