In a crawler chain for off-road vehicles, the chain elements are composed in each case of a sturdy central element (1), hollow box-shaped side parts and a floorplate (4). So that the chain elements can be matched in the most varied functional areas to the respective requirements in accordance with wear and loading, and so that they can be easily reworked when one chain functional area experiences abrasion and another chain functional area is operative, the central element (1) is constructed as a forge component or cast component with a lower recess (2), the floorplate (4) being composed of profile material which protrudes beyond the central element (1) on both sides, and between the central element (1) and the floorplate (4), which protrudes beyond the latter on both sides, hollow shell-shaped supports (8) are arranged which are in particular welded, on the one hand, onto the central element (1) and, on the other hand, dropping away downwards and outwards, onto the floorplate (4) like the central element (1). <IMAGE>
