The invention relates to the area of the construction of decorative fireplaces and in particular to a smoking hood which makes it possible to use the smoke originating from the hearth of the fireplace in order to smoke foods, thus giving them flavour and preserving them. Moreover, said hood affords the fireplace an interesting aesthetic note by its design. It is characterised in that it is equipped: - with a smoke deflection device comprising a smoking box 4 and 5, with two openings made in the smoke pipe which are equipped with small inlet and outlet shutters for the smoke which make it possible to regulate the flow of the latter inside the smoking box, a deflector for orienting the smoke 7 actuated by a key 8; - with a smoke intake device provided with a blocking door 3; - with at least one wall forming the hood. The invention can be utilised on all models of decorative fireplace by replacing the known traditional hood. <IMAGE>
