This mechanical adder for motor vehicles comprises, in a frame 2, a zeroable partial counter 4, of the type with numbered wheels 5, 6, 7, 8, as well as gears 16, 17, 18 for recording multiples of ten, each gear carrying alternatively long and short teeth in the axial direction 24, 25, this adder furthermore comprising, for each gear 16, 17, 18, a projection (pin) 31, 32, 33 fixed to the frame and placed on the path of the long teeth 24 of these gears.
