The horizontal cold-chamber die-casting machine has a device for adapting die-casting dies (29, 43) for vertical die-casting machines. This device is designed in such a way that the biscuit is separated from the sprue prior to removal of the casting from the die. An intermediate plate (16) which can be displaced on the machine pillars (2) between the die clamping plates has a nozzle (24) arranged in a raised position relative to the longitudinal axis of the casting chamber (7) and situated between the sprue channel and the casting chamber (7). The intermediate plate (16), together with the injection half (29) of the die secured thereon, is separated from the fixed die clamping plate (1) prior to the removal of the casting from the die. To ensure reliable removal of the biscuit, the casting chamber (7) is arranged in the fixed die clamping plate (10 by means of an insert bush (5) and connected to the nozzle (24) by a connecting channel (47) adjoining the parting plane between the intermediate plate (16) and the die clamping plate (1) and rising in the flange (8) of the insert bush (5). The connecting channel (47) extends radially beyond the casting chamber (7), and in the region of the casting-chamber outlet, has a restricted cross-sectional area. The intermediate plate (16) is separated from the fixed clamping plate (1) by means of the casting plunger (15) acting beyond the casting-chamber outlet against the intermediate plate (16). <IMAGE>
