The agricultural wagon for conveying harvested material such as hay or grass has a pick-up drum inside a conveying channel at the front, which deposits the material, onto a scraper conveyor forming the floor of the wagon. This drum (11) has holes (15) through the sheet material (14) forming its surface, through which project reciprocating lifting blades (7). The blades are in sets, and the sets are arranged along a helical path from end to end of the drum. As the drum rotates, the blades are driven by a crank mechanism inside the drum. The end plates (13) of the drum incorporate ball bearings for a short spindle section at each end, one connected to a driving chainwheel. Attached to each spindle section is a crank arm for supporting an inner spindle inside the drum, parallel to the drum axis.
