The invention concerns a ski safety fastener for cross-country and downhill skiing with a cross-country plate carrying, at its rear section, a heel support which is disposed on a support integral with the cross-country plate, which plate can be fixed to the ski by a locking device which has an element fixed to the ski which is received, in the locked state, in an opening of the cross-country plate and can be locked by means of a slider disposed on the plate, the locking element on the ski having the shape of a sliding guided part moving on a rail integral with the ski. According to the invention, the sliding part 30' can be moved, against the force of a spring 32, on the rail 2 integral with the ski, advantageously in the direction of the end of the latter, and the spring 32 holds the sliding part 30' in a position which can be freely chosen on the rail 2 integral with the ski 1. The invention applies in particular to the skis which can be used for cross-country and downhill skiing. <IMAGE>
