The subject of the invention is a sealing device with a sliding ring. The sealing device comprises a sliding ring 2 rotating with the shaft 1, this ring 2 being provided on its two sides with shut off surfaces 3, 4 against which fixed sealing rings 5, 6 abut, pushed by the pressure of an axial sealing spring 7. The sliding ring 2 can move axially on the shaft and the pressure of the sealing spring 7 acts solely on one of the two sealing rings 6 and through it on the sliding ring and on the opposite sealing ring 5.
