So that door leaves (4, 5) of a sliding door can, in order to open the latter, be pushed into pocket-shaped recesses at the side of a door aperture (2) in a building wall (1), there is provided the arrangement of a telescopic fitting (6), the supporting-rail part (7) of which extends only over the width of the door aperture (2). Consequently, no fittings or the like need be mounted within the pocket-shaped recesses (3), and therefore no preliminary work has to be carried out during the construction of the building shell and the mounting of the fitting (6) can take place only during or after the interior completion of the building. <IMAGE>
