The invention relates to a device for metal-arc welding, in particular according to the TIG process, with a non-consumable electrode to which a changing welding current is fed according to a predetermined program. A control device, to which the arc voltage is fed as actual value, also receives at its input a voltage value dependent upon the welding current. The control device is designed in such a way that it adjusts the electrode via the motor drive only when changes in the arc voltage are not due to changes in the welding current.
