The invention relates to a tapping chuck with torque limitation adjustable via a radial clutch, an axially movable tool holder, and a device for monitoring the operation on machine tools. The aim of the invention is to create a tapping chuck which can be used on automatic machining centres and has a device for monitoring the operation. The object is to bring a device of the tapping chuck into effect when the set torque is exceeded, which device enables the operation to be monitored via an appropriate operating transducer on the machine. The object is achieved in that a clamping shank connected to the tool holder has a rigid actuating member in the form of a transverse pin which, when the clamping shank and the tool holder rotate relative to one another if the limit torque is exceeded, engages in a face cam of an axially movable operating ring under spring tension and effects an axial movement of the operating ring. The axial movement actuates an operating transducer on the machine, as a result of which the machine is stopped or altered by appropriate utilisation. <IMAGE>
