N-Substituted anthranilic acid and derivatives thereof

The reaction of anthranilic acid with an alkanesulphonyl halide gives an N-alkanesulphonylanthranoylanthranilic acid of the formula <IMAGE> in which R denotes a hydrogen atom and R<1> denotes an alkyl radical. This acid can then be esterified with a phenol or alkanol. The acid and the esters are suitable as fluorescent dyes.
