The mechanised support assembly has a cover (1) which is connected to the base plate (3) by hydraulic props (2). Provided in the goaf-side part (5) of the base plate (3) is a hydraulic pushing cylinder (7) for the separate advance of the conveyor (8) and the support assembly. The piston rod (10) of the pushing cylinder (7) is fastened to one end of a ram (11), the other end of which is connected to the conveyor (8). A further hydraulic cylinder (13) is mounted in the coal-face-side part (4) of the base plate (3) in such a way that its piston rod (14) moves in the direction perpendicular to the advancing direction of the piston rod (10) of the hydraulic pushing cylinder (7) and interacts with the ram (11) via a sliding piece (15) which is frictionally connected to the base plate (3). The ram (11) is arranged on the floor and serves as a guide for the sliding piece (15) during the advance of the support assembly. The sliding piece (15) is pressed continuously against the ram by the piston rod (14) of the hydraulic cylinder (13), for which purpose the piston-rod space is constantly connected to the pressure source. During variation in the length of the hydraulic props (2), the coal-face-side part (4) of the base plate (3) can be lifted away from the floor while the cover (1) maintains constant contact with the roof. <IMAGE>
