The varnishing unit has an application roller (23) which receives varnish during rotation and delivers said varnish so as to be distributed over a block cylinder (1) of the offset printing machine. The varnish is delivered to the application roller in the upper region by nozzles (27) and is distributed in the lower region by a rotating and reciprocating distributor roller (25). The rollers and the nozzles are mounted on a frame which is suspended in a pendulum manner on a further frame.
