A toner density sensor has a pair of windings which are situated opposite one another and each have wires which are wound around independent magnet cores. The windings are connected in series or in parallel, in order in this way to increase the magnetic fluxes which pass jointly through the windings. A toner-containing developer is then moved through the interspace between the windings, so that a change in the induction or inductance of the windings due to a change in the toner density is determined as a change in the output frequency of a resonant circuit. |
