In vehicle washes, the vehicles are washed with a detergent, rinsed and then sprayed with a medium which increases the surface tension of the finish of the vehicle, before the water is blown away with air. In order to achieve rapid drying, after the vehicle has been sprayed with the medium increasing the surface tension, the vehicle is subjected to another pressurised rinse with water and the water droplets then formed are mechanically brushed away from the surface of the vehicle by filaments arranged in the manner of a curtain, before the subsequent air drying.
