PURPOSE:To improve the reliability of paper feed operation by detecting the existence of a sheet adsorbed to a sheet sucking portion and repeating a sucking operation according to the detecting result so as to eliminate a suction miss. CONSTITUTION:With the base of a sheet sucking portion 5 and a pressure roller 16 brought into pressure contact with the uppermost sheet 39' on a paper feed table 40, when a paper feed command is given, air is sucked from an air suction opening 6 so that the sheet 39' is sucked to a sucking portion 5. Subsequently, the device on the whole is turned clockwise on a contact point between the pressure roller 16 and the sheet 39' to lift up the sheet 39' at the left end, and then the left end portion is clamped by a transport apparatus 41 to be taken out. In this arrangement, whether the sheet 39' is sucked at the sucking portion 5 or not is detected by a suction detecting circuit. If not, the device on the whole is returned to a sucking position to repeat the sucking operation and sucking force is increased through a sucking force control circuit. |
