<p>An overload coupling is disclosed which, in normal operation, provides a driving connection between rotary members comprising a driving shaft portion and a driven shaft portion and which disconnects the shaft portions upon overload. The coupling includes locking means which re-connects the two shaft portions with one another subsequent to overload and subsequent to the speed of the driving shaft portion being reduced to below the speed at which the overload took place. The locking means may comprise a plunger, with hydraulic fluid located on either side thereof, the plunger being loaded by a comparatively slack spring biasing the plunger toward a locking position, the plunger being movable into a disconnecting position upon opening of a pressure relief valve.</p> |
