The transmission, particularly for motor vehicles, comprises a gear pre-box (P) and a gear-box (B) arranged between a motion input shaft (E) and a motion output shaft (S) and interconnected by an intermediary shaft (M). The transmission comprises a range of numerous forward gears, which are progressively staged and easy to engage. The reverse running is obtained by means of the gear-pre-box (P), thereby enabling to obtain a demultiplication of the same order than in forward running and an additional forward running gear at the top of the range. Furthermore, demultiplication means (TL) may be added to the gear box (B) to enlarge the amplitude of the transmission gears in both running directions.
