PURPOSE:To suppress whirling of a rotor to a small valve and prevent an increase of noise in the n-th degree of rotary speed, by forming the maximum clearance between a crankshaft and a rotor side bearing smaller than the minimum clearance between the crankshaft and a bearing opposite to the rotor side bearing. CONSTITUTION:A compressor constitutes the maximum clearance (y) between a crankshaft 5 and a rotor side bearing j8 smaller than the minimum clearance x' between the crankshaft 5 and a bearing 15 opposite to the rotor side bearing. By such constitution, the compressor, suppressing to a small value the whirling of a rotor generated by force tending to correct the minimum air gap between the rotor and a stator by electromagnetic attractive force by a winding of the stator and by force acting on an eccentric part of the crankshaft 5 due to compression work, prevents a noise of the n-th degree of a rotary speed from easily increasing, and the quiet rotary type compressor can be obtained.
