PURPOSE:To provide the on-demand type titled printer which allows the use of an inexpensive head without requiring precision working accuracy by enabling the setting of the angle with respect to the nozzle array direction and the scanning direction as desired while the scan length is specified corresponding to the angle to the nozzle array direction and the scan direction. CONSTITUTION:For example, when a pattern as specified by a matrix of 7X5 dots with the number of ink jet head nozzles set at 7 in N1-N7 and a pattern as specified by a matrix of 13X9 dots with the dot density of the pattern doubled are printed, in the former, the nozzle array direction is the right angle to the scan direction A of an ink jet head 3 while in the latter, the angle of inclination computing section 1 gives 30 deg. to a head 3 by computing the angle of inclination. A data converting section 5 reads a pattern memorized in a data buffer 4 and outputs it delayed at each line of the matrix according to formula DELTAx Pcos 30 deg. to drive the nozzles N1-N7 selectively. |
