PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of an ink ribbon by preventing damage to the ribbon by a method in which a means to detect the tension of an ink ribbon and a means to detect the slackening of the ribbon are provided, and the winding of the ink ribbon is controlled by detection signals from these means. CONSTITUTION:The first detectors 11 and 13 to detect a ribbon 3 are provided on a path where the ink ribbon 3 is tensed and the second detectors 11 and 14 to detect the ribbon 3 on a path where the ribbon 3 is slackened and flexed between a pulley 6 ahead in the rotating direction of a type drum 2 and the type drum 2. Control circuits FF1, FF2, G1, and SC by which in relation to the drive motor of the pulley ahead in the rotating direction of the type drum 2, the winding of the ribbon 3 is speeded up on signals from the second detectors and the high-speed winding of the ribbon 3 is released on signals from the first detectors to restore it to steady-speed winding system are provided. |
