The low-voltage lamp consists of a base part (1) which is provided with a standardised threaded base for screwing into conventional lamp sockets, of an incandescent lamp (2) which forms the actual light source and has an incandescent lamp base, and of an outer glass bulb (3) which encloses the base part (1) and the incandescent lamp (2), with the exception of the threaded base (4), and is detachably attached to the circumference of the base part (1) by means of a screw thread (16). On the side opposite the threaded base (4), the base part (1) has an incandescent lamp socket (4), which is matched to the incandescent lamp base (12), for detachable attachment of the incandescent lamp (2) and contains a transformer (6) which transforms the mains voltage down to the low supply voltage for the incandescent lamp (2) which is between 6V and 24V, preferably approximately 12 V. The entire lamp has approximately the same size and shape as a conventional incandescent bulb and can be directly screwed into any desired lamp socket which is connected to the mains, instead of a conventional incandescent bulb. In the event of an incandescent lamp defect, only the incandescent lamp (2) need be replaced, while retaining the base part (1) with its transformer (6). <IMAGE>
