It comprises two cogged wheels (1, 2) connected by a chain (3) whose links (4a, 4b) are extensible. Under the effect of a load applied to the receiving wheel (2), the links (4a) of the half-chain subjected to the force (BA) expand whilst the links (4b) of the other half retract. This change in length gives rise to a decrease in the rotational speed of the wheel (2) and therefore to an increase in the torque. <IMAGE>
