HEAD GASKET FOR COMBUSTION CHAMBER OF INTERNAL- COMBUSTION ENGINE

PURPOSE:To prevent incomplete combustion by increasing the compressibility by reducing the dead volume by forming a number of projection parts on a spacer laminated onto a gasket body and allowing said projection part to be compressed and deformed between the upper surface of a piston and the undersurface of a cylinder head. CONSTITUTION:A head gasket 5 is formed of a gasket body 50 and a spacer 52 having an extended part over the opened part 51 of the gasket body which projects into a combustion chamber. In this case, said spacer 52 has a hook- shaped projection part 55 at the part projecting into the upper part of the combustion chamber. The head gasket 5 is installed having the projection part 55 directed downward, and said projection part 55 is compressed between the top part of a piston 2 and the undersurface of a cylinder head 4 and the projection part 55 is deformed to remove the space in the upper part of the piston 2. Thus, the compressibility is improved by reducing the dead volume between the upper surface of the piston 2 and the undersurface of the cylinder head 4, and incomplete combustion can be prevented.
