PURPOSE:To enable a higher speed of printing without generation of misprinting by controlling the printing speed based on the working time during which a printing element such as a hammer and wire of a print head is detected. CONSTITUTION:The working time TOP covering the movement of a printing element such as hammer and wire of a print head from the initial position thereof to the printing position and the return thereof to the original position is detected to control the print speed according thereto TOP. Traditionally, printing can not be done at so a high speed as was done with a substantial room without such a detection of the working time. To be more specific, a sensor 11 is provided on a print head 3 to detect the displacement of the print element and a signal therefrom is inputted into a measuring device 8 to detect the working time TOP. Based on the results, a microprocessor 2 sets the print speed and transmits a print speed setting signal to a drive timing generator 12. |
